System Requirements: This release is a Universal Binary, approved for OS X Tiger. In order to run Accelerando or it’s Actions, you will need to register.

Size: 5.2 MB

Updated: October 21, 2007

Compatibility Note: There were a few minor releases in September, which can be found on the Logic Studio Public Beta Program page. If you should have any problems using 0.9.5 - or if you are looking for supplementary information (i.e. External Editor Utility) additional resources are available there. 0.9.5 is a beta release and 1.0 will be available soon. Unfortunately, this release does not include updated documentation.

Release Notes: This release acknowledges several new features including several new Automator Actions.

The new Actions include a family of actions for simulating mouse events (position, click, scroll), as well as a family for Soundtrack Pro. Also, there is an action to perform a Link.

This release also introduces the Preset Manager which is used within Accelerando’s Automator Actions. The Preset Manager is a streamlined preset system for storing and recalling parameter settings to an external file, you can then share and recall your presets and templates very quickly and easily.

The Key Commands window is also acknowledged in this release (although it has been available in 0.9.1 - 0.9.3 releases). This editor allows you to configure user defined key commands on an application or Global level - these Key Command assignments can be tied to many tasks Accelerando handles - such as running a Link, running a script, running a workflow, or assigning one of Accelerando’s menu items. Some of the commands support multiple arguments, which is accomplished by line separation. In short, many of the functionalities of the MiniTerminal and Perform Link family of windows can now be assigned to virtually any Key Command and you can assign these to be available in Accelerando or in every application (Global behavior). This allows you to invoke several events or scripts using a freely configurable model. The Launch Paths Configuration window (and the entire mechanism used by Launch Paths) will be removed soon now that this interface is available. The Key Commands window is capable of all the functionality of the Launch Paths Configuration window and Launch Paths system used in previous versions. The Launch Paths Configuration window is available so you can transfer your settings more easily and will be removed shortly. When using this window, you’ll need to save the Key Command settings document for changes to take effect - for Accelerando Menu Item assignments, changes will take effect next time you launch Accelerando.

Numerous interface enhancements.

Improvements in regards to performance and multitasking for both user invoked commands as well as tasks sent from Automator Actions.

Log messages have been expanded.

If you have troubles or see messages regarding version mismatch: Automator uses a cached system for Actions for performance reasons, there are a few steps you can take to circumvent these messages (since the Actions are the correct version and the information Accelerando publishes is correct).
1) Make sure you have only one version of Accelerando on your system, this should be located at /Applications/Accelerando.app. Automator is able to locate older Actions in older releases you may have on your system.
2) Launch Automator while holding the option (alt) key. This tells Automator to delete and rebuild the action cache. It’s a harmless process.
3) Relaunch - OS X may need this chance to update the information published by Accelerando.
4) If you still see these messages, Quit Accelerando and Automator. In Finder, drag Accelerando (the app) onto automator as if you were to open a document using an application - this requests Automator to update Accelerando’s published information.
5) If this still isn’t working, open Console.app, press command+K (to clear the log printed onscreen). Launch Automator and email Console’s output to ER’s tech support address for further assistance.

The reason for these new messages is a trial for an upcoming feature.

Finally, some of the default settings for action parameters have been slightly modified. Notably, the defualt delay times for key command based actions has been decreased. This change will be noticed when you insert an action into a workflow. This change does not alter the behavior of your saved workflows, as the settings will have been saved with the respective workflow and will be recalled properly.

External Editor Utility

Description: External Editor Utility.app - zipped

Installation: Unzip the download and place External Editor Utility.app in: /Applications/Utilities/

Documentation: The full documentation for this application is available in the latest Accelerando User’s Guide.
Examples for Logic users can be found here: Logic Studio Public Beta Program.

It’s use is not limited to Logic’s External Sample Editor, it can also be used within your IDE - for example. It enables you to redirect files which are sent to be opened from an application to be opened in another application. By setting External Editor Utility as the application that is designated to open the file, you can switch which application the file ultimately opens in from within a script or workflow. It’s convenient for switching this reference on the fly or variably, rather than going through an application’s preference system and open panels every time you want to switch which application you’d like a file to ultimately open in.

Accelerando 0.9.0

Description: Accelerando 0.9.0 software and documentation set. The documentation is included in the software and may be accessed from the Help menu.

Installation: Unzip the link above and run the installer.

System Requirements: This release is a Universal Binary, approved for OS X Tiger. In order to run Accelerando or it’s Actions, you will need to register.

Size: 3.4 MB

Updated: August 8, 2007

Compatibility Note: This release was released before Logic 8 or Logic Studio. Updates for Logic Studio will be released when they are available. To expedite this transition, Eigentone Research is hosting a Public Beta program for Logic Studio users: Logic Studio Public Beta Program

Release Notes:

1) Links. Links put your script library just keystrokes away. With Links, multiple script formats are supported including shell scripts, workflows, applications and applescript variants. Links are objects in your Script Library which you can invoke by title. Accelerando includes an option to open the Link entry window using a system wide key command. While on the topic of system wide key commands, there is also an option to bring Accelerando to the foreground by key command.

2) Version 0.9.0 has a newly designed engine for notable improvements in performance, response and stability. Accelerando’s actions now perform faster and Accelerando itself is able to manage several more tasks at a once.

3) Several User Interface updates and improvements. In 0.8.1, Accelerando and Synapse each had User Interfaces, these have been consolidated into Accelerando (the application). Everything regarding user interaction is now available exclusively in Accelerando.

4) Enhanced functionalities from the Search window - allowing you faster access to your script library. New filters and supported file types put more of your Script Library at your fingertips.

5) Extended feedback for Accelerando’s tasks such as running and exited scripts, commands and Actions which are being performed. Also new in 0.9.0 - Expanded error descriptions for Automator Actions.

6) MiniTerminal. MiniTerminal allows quick access to command line utilities, if you find yourself without Terminal.app open.

7) Expanded Documentation. Nearly twice the content compared to the previous release, detailing new features and providing further examples.

8) A collection of new editors make tasks such as running Launch Paths, changing the Search Directory, or opening applications by name a breeze. All in all, hundreds of significant additions and subtle refinements.

Other Info: Eigentone Research is offering to host a Script Repository, where users can submit their scripts and macros for Accelerando. The intention is that they will be available for download for all users.

If you would like to contribute or have questions about the Script Repository, please email accelerandorepository@eigentoneresearch.com.

Description: Stochaton is a free AudioUnit Synthesizer. It was initially released on September 10, 2007 as part of the KVR Developer Challenge 2007. It is an 8 Oscillator Hybrid Digital Synthesizer with flexible modulation capabilities.

Size: 0.6 MB

Updated: September 17, 2007

Release Details: This update addresses the most prevalent known issues, including the previously mentioned preset incompatibility issues. This update is strongly recommended for all users since it uses a different preset format. This release does not include the Documentation, which can be found below.

Installation:
1) If you have a previous version of Stochaton, quit any AU host application. Move the previous version to the trash. Empty the trash.

2) Either run the installer or if your distribution does not contain an installer, move Stochaton.component to one of the plugins folders:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
- or -
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/

3) Relaunch your AudioUnit host and look for Stochaton by Eigentone Research where you find your synthesizer plugins.

System Requirements:
Stochaton may be run on any Apple Computer running OS X 10.4.0 (Tiger) or greater. It has been built and tested as a Universal Binary, so it will run natively under hosts on both PPC and Intel based Macs.

An AU host which supports Cocoa UIs is recommended. These hosts include Logic, Plogue Bidule, GarageBand, AU Lab and others. Unfortunately, there are a few major hosts which do not support Cocoa UIs at this time. If you never see the UI shown in the manual, your host does not support Cocoa UIs. If your host does not support Cocoa UIs, it should create a generic UI for Stochaton’s parameters. Some hosts support only a portion of the parameters and published features when constructing a generic UI.

Other Info: Eigentone Research is offering to host a Preset Repository, where users can submit their presets for Stochaton. The intention is that they will be available for download for all users.

If you would like to contribute AU Presets or have questions about the Preset Repository, please email stochatonpresets@eigentoneresearch.com.
